Build It Before You Need It

It's August and many people are away for vacation. This is actually an excellent time to build up your contacts. You will meet other vacationers on the plane, in the hotel lobby or on the beach.  Everyone is relaxed so conversations flow freely. Sometimes you meet people that may not be immediately helpful for your business, but are good to people to know because they be an asset in the future for you or your friends. Since some leave business cards at home, then put their information on your mobile phone or even on cocktail napkin and organize things later like when you are on the plane on the way back.

Great idea!

I enjoy polishing up every aspect of my business at this time of year! You can take the teacher out of the classroom, but you can't take the teacher out of a coach, so August planning is in my blood.

Because of the weather here in Pennsylvania, fall and spring are the favored seasons for giving workshops and participating in community events. I believe it's also when people are more likely to commit to coaching, because their time and energy reserves are higher and they feel more focused.

So, I tell myself, why swim against the tide? I use the slower times of year to develop products and take my own vacation time. August is prime gear-up time for planning ways to get out and meet folks in the fall!
