Last night was the Ongoing LA meeting for Ladies Who Launch held at the very fabulous penthouse at the Sheraton Delfina in Santa Monica. We arrived in time to watch the sunset over Malibu. So devine. We convened together and did our usual sharing of what are projects are, any forward movement (which I forgot to mention this time because I was so focused on presenting my new project properly), and what you need. I originally started the incubator looking to expand ReSolution Spa and came out of the incubator as a Lifestyle Specialist. Now I have the intention of hosting a lifestyle tv show in the realm of travel, food, and wellness. It's amazing how the power of just saying aloud what you want gives a whole new life to it. As Amy mentioned to a newcomer last night- don't incubate anything that you don't want to move. . . because it will!
Anyway, after the sunset over the ocean and Santa Monica mountains, our guest speaker, Melissa Perlman of Amansala Bikini Bootcamp, entered the room with her beautiful new baby. What a grounding addition to our meeting and so well behaved! Melissa has this amazing energy that is radiant, yet grounded. I could have listened to her for hours. She is an incredible story teller - I could see so vividly everything she was saying. And what a fascinating story she shared with us. Melissa started off moving to Japan after college and started a healthy American-style sandwhich shop. I am skimming over all the funny details, but I am sure all her stories will be published in a book sometime soon. She sold the sandwhich business and moved back to NY where she sold children's programs to TV networks while simultaneously developing an international spafinder-like website. This wasn't going as she planned and from this the idea for Amansala Bikini Bootcamp arose. Her and a friend just went to this rustic village in Tulum, Mexico where Melissa has vacationed for years and opened Bikini Bootcamp. . .they arrived with no real building and duffle bags full of sheets and towels for the hotel they were to create. The stories of endless obstacles and seeming impossible challenges was so incredibly inspiring. It just reminds me that if she can do it, so can I. And there WILL be scary times in your entrepreneureal endeavors, but you figure it out and live to tell a fabulous success story. Steve Jobs quote, "Stay Foolish. Stay Hungry." which Jane Wurwand, founder of Dermalogica added to "Stay Fierce" really resonated with Melissa's story. She never knew too much about what she was doing so she didn't have the voices of logic taminating her vision and relentless tenacity. Thank you so much Amy Swift and Ladies Who Launch LA for bringing this incredible speaker to us!
