Passion is a Thrill and a Must
...especially in the world of launching.
Knowing
and trusting your passion - this is ultimately what determines your
future, in my opinion. When you are truly passionate about an endeavor,
and I say "truly" because there is a difference between somewhat
passionate and truly passionate, people can tell; and most importantly
you can tell when your heart is passionately engaged to its fullest
capacity. I believe when your heart is fully engaged, this is when
things start to move in your life!
In this
case I speak from experience many times over. My heart has finally
found its home as a creative and entrepreneurial spirit. From the time
I left college as an advertising major, I was on the search for what
has always existed inside of me. I am an artist. And under this artist
umbrella, I am a painter, an illustrator, a designer and a podcaster
and a teacher, as I love encouraging people to follow their dreams, to
find, exactly this subject, their passion!
When
I was little, I drew, I painted, and lost track of time in those
creative moments that I loved. This passion continued on into high
school, but I was part of a belief system that said, "artist's don't
make any money", "there aren't any jobs for artists". I'm sure you are
familiar with the expression a "starving" artist? So, as a college
student I majored in advertising. This is a creative "career choice",
a communications major, where both business and creativity are
combined; a possibility of a more secure financial future?!. My first
job was as a graphic designer working with all art school graduates (I
could have just gone to art school, after all...) But as it turns out,
especially living life as an entrepreneur I can now appreciate all I
did learn about marketing, writing, and advertising because of that
degree. Whatever path you take to find what makes your heart sing in
this life, I honestly believe it is all for something. It is all
leading you to finding and defining your passion. Sometimes you have it
already and if this post can encourage you to listen to that now
instead of take the long way around, then by all means, pay attention
and listen to your heart. Your personal passion is not something that
anyone else can discover for you. Passion is something you must
discover inside of you.
I followed the long
way around, but not too long as I have always participated in the
creative world. It took my participation in all of the following list
of experiences to come to understand myself better and in turn know my
truest passion. I went from the degree in advertising to work as a
graphic designer, to returning to school as an interior designer, to
working as an interior designer, to launching an internet company in
the interior design market, to becoming an actress, to launching
Creative Thursday which combines it all into - Tadah - passion found in
the world of painting and podcasting! Most recently in my work as a
painter, I am a "daily painter". This means that I create and post a
new painting for sale every day online at my website and my blog. I
took refining my passion further and embraced that I am a "creative"
who's ideas flow, fast and furiously. For me it is a joy to create
every day. It is what fulfills me and challenges me.
This
path that I am now on has always been there, from the time I was
little. It just took a bit of maneuvering through life to trust it. And
now that I do trust my truest passion - this is when I am seeing
results in my business endeavors. I believe the two go hand and hand,
especially for any longevity as an entrepreneur. In the next step of my
creative path, I am ready to pass on this knowledge, to encourage
others to find what makes them happiest in this life and to trust it. I
am able to share this message through my art, my podcast and my
workshops that I am beginning this year. Creative Thursday, my company
and I, together with those following their passions in the creative
world, will change the idea of a starving artist to a thriving artist.
It's an exciting new time in the world. It's time to embrace it and
live passionately.
.
Passion is so important to creativity. Growing up I was a competitive tennis player and my coach used to tell me,"Time is the best gift you can give something you love." Any thing you are going to invest in financially, personally, etc. you must be passionate about.
